Art has always been an important part of my life. As a child, I looked forward to a box of new crayons at the beginning of each school year.  One Christmas I received a big box of 64 Crayolas, complete with the built-in sharpener on the side.  All those wonderful colors, which of course I organized meticulously, allowed me to create to my heart’s content.  Watercolors were my next love, and in fact, still are.

In high school I enjoyed art classes, kept sketch book journals, and made my own greeting cards.   In college, as I pursued my elementary teaching license, I fed my need for art through art history courses.  I later traveled to Europe and had the amazing experience of seeing great works of art and architecture.

After teaching in California for 10 years, I got married and moved to Oregon where I raised my three children.  I experienced again the joy of a new box of crayons as I brought art into my children’s lives.  I became involved in the Art Literacy program at my children’s school and volunteered for 8 years. During this time I also began to substitute in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District, where I continue to work today.

As my children moved on to high school, I decided to get serious about my own art and about teaching art to students.  I have taken many art classes and I teach after-school enrichment classes in art. I teach art exploration classes out of my home both during the year and through summer week long “camp” sessions.
